What You Didn't Know

About Your Comfort Zone

Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone

You’ve seen the graphic: A circle labeled “Comfort Zone” with a dot outside the circle labeled “Where the magic happens”.

I totally agree with that concept, but also want to expand on it, too.

Our “Comfort Zone” is where we feel comfortable and safe, which is good… to an extent.

I think it’s important to have a space where we can go and feel relaxed, safe, comfortable, peaceful, and to feel all of those other pleasant descriptive words.

BUT.

Where the “comfort zone” turns bad is when the comfort zone turns to a “Complacent Zone”. That happens when we hang out in our comfort zone for too long. Just like anything in life, if we don’t have something to contrast experiences and feelings with, it all becomes ‘vanilla’ - un-remarkable, all the same, no lows to make us appreciate the highs, no failures to make us work hard and kick a$$ to appreciate the successes, it just turns kinda… blah.

The last time I checked ‘blah’ wasn’t very inspiring. I don’t know - is that just me?

Use your Comfort Zone to refuel and recharge, then with confidence (or fear fueled by a desire for more in life!), leave that comfort zone and venture out of it. Take in growth, adventure, learning, lessons, and steps forward in your journey of life by going outside of that circle of comfort.

If you stay in your comfort zone, you’ll keep going around in circles, the same things day in and day out - the same good, the same bad, the same blah.

Venturing outside of there will make coming back all the sweeter - we bring back earned perspective and new ideas to make the comfort zone a little newer and more exciting…but still safe. Just like lifting weights, we challenge ourselves and experience growth - we get stronger and that becomes the new norm or new comfort zone. So as we push ourselves, we also expand what we previously knew to be safe - and we’re good with that.

It can be scary (that’s kinda the point), but find a reason to take that step out of your circle of comfort/complacence:

-->to improve your health since you’ve seen those around you suffer from illness,

-->to better your mood since you feel like a grump most of the time,

-->to find balance in your life because there is too much going on too much of the time and the overwhelm is getting… overwhelming,

-->to find inspiration and purpose in life since you feel directionless and frustrated.

Whatever your reason is, dig into it and pursue it.

Life is too short not to go after your dreams, if you don’t, that circle of comfort becomes a circle of confinement, then a circle of constriction, and it will just keep getting smaller and smaller all the time with you in the middle of it. It's time to break on through to the other side of that circle and really live alive. ❤️

Much Love,

Brianne ❤️
