Is everyone caught up from the long weekend?

(Today is Wednesday BTW 😆)((IF you're reading this on June 01, 2022, I can guarantee this, otherwise, you're on your own. 😆🤷‍♀️))

This is one of my favorite pics from the long weekend.

The final day of Memorial Day vacation was drawing to a close, but the longer summer days were still calling our name. Garden work led to worm collection, which led to fishing (naturally).

We hopped on the gator and made our way down the road to Grandpa’s pond. The wind was strong, but the desire for some fun was stronger.

Strategically positioning ourselves so our bobbers and lines didn’t blow towards us, we cast line after line, having mad success as the fish were pretty much jumping out of the water onto our hooks.

...at first, anyway.

After 14 fish they started catching on to the game we were playing and that elusive #15 just couldn’t be caught.

Brett transitioned from standing to sitting on the pond’s edge, then resorted to trying to catch our missing fish with his hands. No luck there either. 🤷‍♀️ 🎣 😆

BUT

I admire his dedication and perseverance in pursuing his dream of 15 fish (I mean, for an 8-year-old, that IS a big dream). He tried different strategies and techniques and only quit when I made him as the shadows started getting long and the supper bell was about to be rung (by me, duh, nobody else rings the dinner bell and I needed to get home to do it. 🤷‍♀️)

How many times in life do you approach a goal with such perseverance?

How many times do you approach your dreams with such gusto?

…with so much fire and passion that you stand on the shore, you get your feet wet, and you dive right in if you need to.
