Discover Your ONE TRUE VALENTINE.

February 14, 2022

Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️

No quiz for you to take, no wordplay or games, I won't give you the run around to discover your one true Valentine... And whether you like this day or… you don’t - it’s a good reminder to make sure that you keep love a priority in your life.

Love for yourself.

Love for your loved ones.

Love for yourself.

Love for your community.

Love for yourself.

Love for God’s creation - animals, plants, nature, the wind, the waves, the sun, the sky…

Love for yourself.

Love for your country.

Love for yourself.

Do you see the theme here? I hope you figured out your one true Valentine is YOU! BUT... it's not always so easy, is it?

We easily give love out - endlessly at times (and I’m not saying that’s bad) - BUT (you see where this is going don’t you?), we sometimes (oftentimes) don’t save enough love for ourselves. (Was that too many (((()))))?)

When it comes to loving ourselves, sometimes we suddenly get very strict standards and determine we don’t meet the standards to love ourselves (HINT: There ARE NO STANDARDS! Just do it!). We decide that we ‘aren’t worthy' and we judge ourselves through the harshest eyes while we give grace to those around us.

Leave the judging up to Jesus and know that you, too, are worthy of all the love in the world. Last I checked, we’re all on our own team here. WHY would we sabotage the main player on our own team? Shouldn’t we be setting ourselves up to score a few points in life instead of benching the main scorer on our team of one?

When it comes to loving ourselves, sometimes we just don’t have the energy after serving others so much. And the times we actually do have a minute for ourselves, we’ve run out of steam and don’t feel like doing anything. OR, worse yet, the little energy we have left we use to clean the house, fold laundry, reorganize the pantry, (insert your go-to job HERE). Ugh.

And yes, there are an abundance of other reasons we don’t give ourselves the love and attention that we need (and deserve), but those are a few of the main ones.

Stop judging yourself and love yourself just like you loved your favorite toy growing up: you loved it unconditionally and you didn’t let anyone mess with it. Ever. The same goes for yourself. Your sexiest body part is your mind, use it for good and not evil. 🤷‍♀️

And remember to save some time and energy for yourself. Be a little more selective in how you give your time and energy away - quality over quantity my friend, and you are quality.

So on today, Valentine’s Day, please go celebrate and love on yourself a little bit. Give yourself true acknowledgment for all you’ve conquered - mentally, physically, emotionally, and more.

Maybe…

--Write yourself a letter.

--Talk a walk to bring your body physical and mental release- breathe in deep the fresh air.

--Take a nap to re-energize.

--Listen to your favorite music without apologies and sing along - loudly.

--Indulge in your favorite dessert - savor each bite.

--Smile just because and then keep smiling because it feels good and it looks good on you. 😎

You are stronger than you think. Be your one true Valentine, you should always be able to count on yourself for true, unconditional love. 💕

Even if you’re not in your best space right now, you’ll be okay. And while loving yourself IS where it’s at, sometimes a hug from someone is just what we need, too. So, here’s a hug from me to you. 🤗
